Pillars of Success
The columns at the entrance to this Georgian house in Central London
needed to be restored.

First, we had to remove the old plaster and take the columns back to their original solid structure. Most often these are made from solid timber at the core. And in this case, built up with a combination of brick and concrete.
Then we attached a mesh all the way around the columns before applying an initial layer of sand and cement render.
Getting the column consistent from top to bottom takes time but we have a few skills in that area and it was great to be restoring such an iconic feature.

Finally, another layer of render to a smooth finish, a bit of tidying up and the columns were ready for painting.
